Get together on a free group video call – from the comfort of your sofa
Since the launch of Skype on TV, gone are the days when you and your children needed to cram in front of a webcam to say hi together to your friends. With the new Skype on TV, you can also bring in your friends from anywhere from now on and have a 3-party group video call*. The entire group can see and talk to each other naturally and comfortably — just like you’re all together in the same living room. With the newly added full HD (1080p) support*, one-to-one video calls are also crisper than ever, allowing you and your friends to have a real-time conversation about a TV show, sports game or movie.
Skype has been partnering with Samsung closely to transform your smart TV into a communication hub. The new Skype 4.0 on TV is being rolled out with a firmware update to your 2014 Samsung Smart TV with built-in camera. To manually check if you have any available updates, just press the Menu button on your remote, and select Support > Software Update, then select Update Now. You can also find more information on the Skype blog to help get you started with the new Skype on TV.
*3-party group video call and 1080p calling is available on 2014 Samsung Smart TV models with built-in cameras. For 1080p video calls, all users must have compatible HD displays, web cams, the latest version of Skype and sustained internet connection of 1 Mbps symmetrical bandwidth or higher. For group video calling, minimum download / upload speed is 512kbps / 128kbps and we recommend 2Mbps / 512kbps or higher.
