Skype for Android 6.2: Quickly Share Photos, Location and More
At Skype we take your feedback to heart and in turn, we have been making frequent updates to improve your Skype experience to be the best it can be. Today, we’re pleased to release Skype 6.2 for Android, which adds a media bar to your conversations, making it easier to express yourself in more than plain text.
Open any conversation and you’ll notice that we have replaced the “+” with a new media bar. All the options that were there before, such as being able to send photos or files, are now conveniently located on the toolbar. Just tap on the corresponding icon on the toolbar to quickly access these features.
We’ve added a couple of new ways to express yourself. You may have heard that we’re rolling out Skype Mojis to everyone on the latest Skype app on Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows. You can send a Moji by tapping on the emoticon icon in a chat. We’re also excited to announce that we’re bringing location sharing to Skype for Android. Seeing friends or family and want to tell them where to meet you? From any conversation, just tap the location icon on the media bar to send a map that shows them where you are.
This new version of Skype also has a number of fixes and additional improvements, including the ability to see how many unread conversations you have without having to open Skype. Just look at the Skype app on your launcher, and the number of unread conversations are now displayed on the upper right side of the Skype icon.*
If you haven’t already downloaded the latest version of Skype for Android, you can get the update from the Play Store. To share your feedback in-app, just tap on the menu icon “…” > “Settings” and tap on “Feedback” under the Support section.
