Veins Glow device
Sometimes getting a needle prick at the doctors may feel like Russian roulette. Luckily, for those of us who are scared of needles (like myself), you can now breathe more easily. Christie Med’s VeinViewer 2 has the ability to show doctors where the veins underneath your skin are located. While the technology isn’t new, it’s never-the-less revolutionary.
The device works by projecting a near-infrared light onto your skin, this is absorbed by your blood’s hemoglobin, but it’s reflected by the surrounding tissue. Hemoglobin is a protein molecule in your red blood cells, it carries oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body.
The reflected near-infrared light is captured by the device, then in real-time, the device projects the processed image back onto your arm. you can even see when vein flow is obstructed! Doctors use this for everything from simple injections to the treatment of spider.
