Snapchat agrees to block some UAE content following complaints
Social media site Snapchat has reportedly blocked some content in the UAE after complaints over sensitive content.
The UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) contacted the social media company following reports that video clips featuring sensitive content were posted to the app.
The TRA said it received a “positive response” from the Californian company and that some content was removed “that may not fit our societies”, reported The National. Details of the content was not known.
It was not known if the content was removed or if it had expired due to content’s automatic deletion 24 hours after it is posted.
“Our focus is on creating the best possible experience for Snapchatters around the world,” said a Snapchat spokesman.
